What can the Grayce Development Programme teach you?

On the International Day of Education, Grayce Analyst, Lucy Duncan shares what she's learnt on the Grayce graduate Development Programme.

In addition to gaining professional consultancy experience, applying to Grayce appealed to me for three main reasons; the training and development opportunities, continued support throughout the development programme and to be part of an ambitious community.

1. Training and development

Over the three-year Development Programme, I have taken a variety of accredited change qualifications, expanding my knowledge of business analysis practices and project management methodologies, which I have subsequently been able to apply to my roles on client site.

Building on from a firm foundation of training in the first year, training budgets in the following two years provide more flexibility, enabling you to specialise and tailor training towards future career ambitions. In year 2, I completed my Prince2 and Agile PM qualifications which equipped me with knowledge applicable to my current role as a project manager on client site.

With a growing interest in Lean and Agile methodologies, this year I chose to take Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Certified Scrum Master and Product Owner qualifications. It’s great to see Grayce adapting the training programme to provide Agile qualifications earlier on in the development programme, as many of their clients are moving towards Agile ways of working.

2. Support

I believe that both the amount of responsibility that Grayce Analysts are trusted with and the level of stakeholder exposure that can be gained throughout the programme is what sets Grayce apart from a typical graduate scheme. With the majority of your time being spent on client site, Grayce provides ongoing support to ensure you are successful within your role. I meet with my Delivery Manager regularly, who has been extremely supportive. Over the past year, focus has shifted to my career and beyond the development programme. Whether your ambition is to move to a consultancy or transition to a permanent role at your client, Grayce provides mentoring to support you.

3. Community

Grayce is made up of a growing community of ambitious individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds. All with unique skill sets and on different paths to become future change leaders, so I learn a lot from my peers and their experiences. At Grayce, there are many Analyst-led initiatives including socials and CSR activities, which provide great opportunities to expand your network.

I am extremely grateful for the experience I had over the past 3 years. If like myself, you are looking to kick start a career in change or transformation, I’d recommend the Grayce Development Programme. It is not only a great platform, providing invaluable experiences and development opportunities, but also opens many doors enabling you to pursue your future career ambitions.
