Transitioning from Grayce to an FTSE100 bank

Grayce Alumnus, Alex Cole shares her journey after the Development Programme.

Bringing with her a wealth of account management experience and a hunger for success, Alex Cole joined the Grayce Development Programme as a Junior Business Analyst. During her time at Grayce, Alex has supported projects across finance transformation at one of the UK’s leading banks. Her continued success with this client has led to her being offered a permanent role there as a Business Development Manager. Here Alex shares her experience transitioning from the Grayce Development Programme to a FTSE100 bank.

What project were you working on before transitioning to a permanent role?

I’ve worked on a few exciting finance transformation projects since starting with my client. First, as a Business Analyst on a process improvement project and business transfer project. I then got involved in some large scale integration and business development projects which is now the role I have moved into.

How did the opportunity to transition come about?

My client was keen for me to transition anyway and then one of my colleagues who I work very closely with was going on maternity leave, so when I was offered this new role - I jumped at the chance!

What will you be working on in your new role?

My new role at one of the UK's leading banks is as a Business Development Manager, so I will be working on supporting the strategic objectives of the business and helping to shape the business accordingly.

How has the Grayce Development Programme helped you to secure a permanent role?

Firstly, it has provided me with the opportunity to get a role in the client. And secondly, it has given me with experience I needed to be successful in the role. The opportunity and exposure provided by the Grayce Development Programme is what I value the most.

How has Grayce influenced your career plans?

It has broadened my idea of what opportunities are out there. I wasn’t planning on getting into the banking industry, but am pleased to say I’m now very much enjoying it!

Where do you see yourself in the future?

I’d like to keep my options open for the moment, but I can see myself in a role which challenges me, has a strong people element, and is supported by a great team. In general, I see myself  in a management position due to the people and leadership aspects that suit me so well.
