Meet Bhalraj, a Project Manager at a multinational insurance firm
L2 Grayce Analyst, Bhalraj Rai shares his experience on client site as part of the Change+ programme
I joined Grayce in April 2021 as an Analyst on the Change+ Development Programme. Since completing my Welcome to Grayce training, I have been on assignment with three clients, my current being a multinational, leading Insurance firm.
Since starting on client site, I’ve been made accountable for a number of projects. I am part of the HR Change team, working on recruitment transformation and performance projects.
On the road to success
My biggest achievement in my role as Project Manager was bringing organisation to a massive project. Despite having a list of project objectives there was ambiguity regarding priority and timelines. After speaking and meeting with numerous key stakeholders, I created a Gantt chart which highlighted the 5 key priorities, ensuring they would be completed on time. This is an ongoing process, to keep a strong timeline for the remaining project objectives to aid with prioritisation.
Ongoing learning & development
On client site I regularly use Microsoft Office tools, specifically Excel and PowerPoint. Through these, I can manage and track project statuses and regularly update senior stakeholders with key information, details, and raise queries on decisions that need to be made. I had knowledge of Microsoft tools previously, but through Grayce’s unlimited access to LinkedIn Learning and continued use on client site, I consolidated this and have branched out to new tools such as Visio.
I tend to pick things up as I work, learning on the go. However, whilst being on client site I’ve found myself thinking back to my core training provided by Grayce which enables me to take a step back and follow the correct approach. Specifically, both the BA and APM exams, that I was successful in completing during my L1 year, paid dividends throughout my time with my client. Whether it was using the Power/ Interest Matrix I studied or understanding how to maximise time in workshops.
Being aligned with a Delivery Manager (DM) at Grayce has guaranteed I am always supported. Monthly Performance Meetings with my DM have enabled me to celebrate successes on client site but also learn where I have room to improve and grow. Outside of this, DM’s readily make themselves available and are always supportive in personal and professional matters.
