Background

I graduated with a degree in Economics and Finance from the University of Lincoln and joined Grayce shortly after. My first client with Grayce was a UK consulting firm, where I was placed on a project supporting a healthcare organisation that operates nationwide. The project involved redesigning a patient diagnostics pathway tracker in Power BI, taking the current report containing one page of 5-6 metrics to a fully dynamic report containing six pages of over 100 metrics. This enabled the doctors to better track the treatment processes for cancer patients. I then joined an economic development bank and was a part of the fraud and financial crime team for around one and a half years. My role here involved gathering metrics from different departments within the bank to help ensure compliance with fraud and financial crime policies. I also created a monthly fraud and financial crime report for the bank’s executive committee.

My Grayce project

I am currently working for international energy organisation, who are building new nuclear reactors. Their aim is to provide safe and sustainable power whilst reducing the volumes of nuclear waste. My role sits within the apps team, where I am building new applications for the business from scratch using the Microsoft Power Platform. In my role, I am using Power Apps and Power Automate to build a project initiation form for the fuel team to use. Day to day, my role tends to be spent either coding in Power Apps or building cloud flows, with support from the other developers.

Looking ahead

In the short term, I hope to take advantage of my client’s positive attitude towards development and develop my technical skills in the Power Platform with their support. There are a number of Microsoft certifications based on this, one of which I have already completed, but I would like to achieve a few more and work towards being considered a senior Power Platform developer. I find logic and coding to be some of the most fulfilling and enjoyable parts of the roles I have had at Grayce, so I am looking forward to continuing to explore these skills over the next few months.
